Is competition good or bad? When it comes to competition, we usually think about two aspects of that: enthusiastic support and qualified support. The first point of view indicates that the more we involve our children in rivalry, the better. Competition builds character and results in excellence. The second opinion admits that our society won't need to be Number One. So it is not necessary to force kids too hard and too fast to become winners. But it believes that competition can be healthy and fun in some stances.

But researches show that competition is harmful to skill development. The reason may be that failure makes children stressful and fearful, so it is not good for learning and performance.

You may think about the ambitions you have for your children. Probably you want them to have confidence, feel proud; that is, accept themselves as basically good people. You wish they become successful in their life, and gain the excellent things they deserve. You want them to have a warm and effective communication. Generally, you hope they have an enjoyable life. But the appropriate way to achieve all of these is not competition. It may sometimes reduce them.
