Impact of computers
The ongoing Computer Revolution has done more than merely equip hundreds of millions of people with a new technology. It has changed the world by affecting the lives of individuals and the larger society in which they lived. The combined impacts of the PC and the Internet have had a far-reaching effect on the society. Perhaps its greatest impact has been on the teenagers and children.
Before the arrival of the Internet, cyberspace did not exist. The realm did not even have a name until science fiction writer William Gibson created it in his 1984 novel, The Necromancer. Since then the term has gained worldwide acceptance as a way to define the domain where the events of the Internet appear to take place. In the process, other forms of entertainment and communication have declined. Signs are strong that book reading, personal hobbies, volunteerism, and even television viewing have dwindled as more and more people explore the Internet. This shift in how people work and play has caused significant changes in how society functions.
Nowadays, educational officials everywhere want to implement computers in their schools. Many educators and community leaders believe providing children with hands-on experience and familiarity with...
