Carpentry is a job that consists of a lot of on-the-job training and involves a great deal of mathematics. The trade consists of measuring, estimating, and many other math related skills.
Carpenters learn their trade through on-the-job training, as well as formal training programs that consists of mostly math and algebraic work. Most pick up skills informally by working under the supervision of experienced workers. Many acquire skills through vocational education. Others participate in employer training programs or apprenticeships. Most employers recommend an apprenticeship as the best way to learn carpentry. Because they say doing it is the best way to learn the trade.
On the job, apprentices learn elementary structural design and become familiar with common carpentry jobs, such as layout, form-building rough framing, and outside and inside finishing witch all involve many different types of math. They also learn to use the tools, machines, equipment, and materials of the trade.
