Of Mice and Men Essay
Have you ever had a dream? Dreaming is an important part of life. It gives man something to believe in, to hope for, and to strive for. In Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men, The characters George, Lennie, and Curly s Wife all have dreams that direct the course of their lives.
George s dream is to own a piece of land with Lennie. He almost achieves this dream when Candy is willing to donate three hundred dollars for the land. Later, Lennie gets in trouble and gets shot. When the fruit come in we could can it and tomatoes, they re easy to can. Once again, this shows George s detailed description of his dream. He even talks about catching salmon, and then eating them for breakfast. (If that isn t detailed planning I don t know what is.) Also George expresses his desire to build a smokehouse just like his grandfather did. This shows how he wants his dream to reflect his childhood. He strives for a perfect dream that he hopes to accomplish. Thinking about this dream keeps him working hard and saving his money to acquire his goal.
Lennie s dream is mostly the same as George, but the main part Lennie focuses on is the rabbits and the fact that he gets to tend them. All Lennie ever can...
