In the past three decades, steroids have become a serious problem more than ever, especially in the athletic field. Steroids are an anabolic drug used to build growth hormones that include the androgens (male sex hormones), principally testosterone, estrogen, and progestogens (female sex hormones).

Steroids were first developed for medical purposes. They were initially used for cases such as controlling inflammation, strengthening weak hearts, preventing conception, and alleviating symptoms of arthritis and asthma. Unfortunately, research has shown that steroids have been abused in almost every kind of sport. Although steroids contribute to a muscular body, usage remains illegal because they mentally destroy and physically deteriorate the body.

Many people are fascinated with steroids because of their ability to build up the body. Whether taken by injection or by pill, it increases strength and endurance. Steroids also help in the healing process of muscular tissue. They begin by first injuring the tissue, and as the muscles start to heal quicker, fibers are added, and the muscles increase in bulk.
