In today s world newsstands are filled with magazine s featuring glossy advertisements with suggestive and erotic imagery. The magazines are full of pages and pages of flesh that grab your attention. Body parts that are normally covered in the conservative world are brought out for all to see. For boys and girls alike the erotic imagery cannot be passed by. Everyone stops and sneaks a second or two to put him or herself into this cultural fantasy. Eroticism has come to the forefront of both the advertising industry and the collective conscience of mainstream society due to people s strong attraction to sex.
The passionate sex appeal between two people is displayed in advertisements to grab your attention when the product has nothing to do with sex or being erotic. For example in a Guess jeans ad you cannot even see the jeans. In the ad the shirt of the woman is unbuttoned and cleavage is hanging out. The two are about to kiss. You can see the lust for one another jumping off the page. The picture leaves it up to your imagination of what will happen next. The ad displays the word Guess jeans in bold white letters. Along with the picture, the words stick in your head. It gives you the feeling that with this name brand you will be put into the situation of the models in the advertisement. This ad is eye catching to both men and women with the eroticism being between to beautiful people. It creates a dream place that almost everyone wishes that they could go and take the place of the male or female in the picture. Ads are not only used to promote material objects today but sex still finds it s way into those ads that it once again does not relate to.
Everything today is on the Internet and this is how a lot of business is done. An ad for Stuff magazine that is on-line also takes the erotic approach to marketing. The magazine is a guy s magazine that includes things like jokes, reviews, fashion, gadgets and sex. However, sex is not the main topic of the magazine, but the ad makes it seem this way. To catch every man s eye there is a dark tanned woman in a little bikini. She is posed in a way that makes you look twice. Her legs are spread and her cleavage is bountiful, as her hair is being wildly tossed in the air. Her mouth is opened as if she wants you to know that she is having fun. The language of the ad also uses very erotic words such as spanking and dive right in. Which makes you think more of the woman then of the site. With this kind of appeal it makes you wonder exactly what is on this...
