In Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, Decius Brutus and Mark Antony, both Roman Senators, characterize Julius Caesar, each using a different technique. Brutus attempts to sway the people. He justifies against Caesar by stating that Caesar's desires would have hurt Rome. However, in Antony's opinion, he focuses on Caesar's positive traits, and Brutus disproves justification for killing Caesar. Some Romans may know how Julius Caesar was murdered, but the Romans can t decide who should replace Caesar, Antony or Brutus.
The tragedy for Julius Caesar started at the celebration. Roman s are celebrating over one of their victories in the civil wars. The leader for that war was Caesar. Caesar is on his way to marry Cleopatra to be the king. Cassius and his group don t want Caesar to be king because of what he believes. Cassius want s Brutus to join his group to help murder Caesar. Calpurina tells Caesar not to go to the Senate House because that is where Brutus is going to kill Caesar. Caesar says that he is not going to be a coward and stay home, but to go to the Senate House. When Caesar arrives at the Senate House, Brutus group surrounds Caesar and start stabbing him in the back. Caesar is still alive and fighting back, but when Brutus stabs Caesar he dies. After the murder, a somewhat trial began between Antony and Brutus.
Brutus explains why he is against Caesar. Brutus makes a speech that lure s the crowd. He declares that he is an honorable man, and tells them that he will let them judge his claims. He will allow the truth to speak for itself. This makes the crowd to believe him, as an honorable man. He says that he wants them to know the facts; "Censure me in your wisdom, and awake your senses that you may the better judge." He gets their attention by saying that he loved Caesar. Brutus says that he never hurt Caesar, but he cried for Caesar's love. He said that he had to kill him because of Caesar's ambition. He says that the reason for killing Caesar was his great love for Rome. Brutus explains his actions by saying that he loved Caesar but, "Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more."
