The Road Not Taken I found the poem, "The Road Not Taken" very interesting. The poet constantly refers to symbolism in the poem. Robert Frost talks about "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry i could not travel both" meaning two different roads one harder then the other. He leaves himself with two choices, the easy road which is taken by many other people and is aware what is ahead, and the road less taken by that is unpredictable. Frost states that "...looked down as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth" meaning to look down both roads as far as he can. The first stanza was interesting because it set up the poem and knew what was comming up. In the second stanza Frost compared the two roads coming up with the conclusion that the second road is more grassy. The second road was considered more grassy because it was not a common road taken by, and no one knew what was ahead. Even though Frost talks about two different roads he states that they had worn them about the same, meaning many people take similar roads until a certain part in life. In the third stanza Frost caught my eye when he stated that, "Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back". The reason that statment caught my eye because there were many times i put things off until tomorrow, and when the time came I was not able to get it done. Frost tries to tell his audience not to put things off until another day because you can not back track. The last stanza i found interesting because he leaves a positive attitude on the road he took. he also states " Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference". The road frost had taken was less traveled on, but it made a difference. Even though he took a more difficult road he benifited, the reason i think its more difficult is because he didnt know what was ahead. Unlike the other road taken by which was very common. Frost refers to symbolism in the poem which is basically two different roads, one common road many people take, and another that you can make whatever you want of. I think I took the road less traveled by until now because many kids my age are in school even though I found the road hard, in reality it was easy because it was all set up for me. It was not difficult at all and i knew what was expected from me, and just tried my best.
