Acne is a very common skin disease. It can come in the form of blackheads, whiteheads, red spots and even boils (nodules or cysts). Although anyone can have acne, the majority of the cases are found in teenagers. Most of the Acne problems are found on the face, chest, upper back, and shoulders. These regions of the body are most common because they have large quantities of pilosebaceous follicles, which are huge oil-producing structures (Facts 1).
The cause for Acne has not yet been proven. However; many theories have been developed. The most common theory is that hormones rise to incredible levels before and after puberty. This causes the skin to be more vulnerable to oils, which may cause Acne. Other theories purposed had to deal with emotional stress levels, fatigue, and cosmetics. All of these are believed to aggravate Acne (Facts 1).
When faced with the problem of Acne there are a few simple things one should do to keep the case mild. First you should treat the Acne early. The longer a person waits the worse the problem can get. Scarring may appear if one waits too long to take car of their situation. Once a pimple in noticed, don't squeeze or scratch at it. This will help illuminate the spread of more pimples and scarring. Your hands carry many bacteria that will help to spread infection. This is not a good thing to do (Facts 2).
When using cosmetics it is best to stay away from nonwater-based products and products that are rich in oils. These cosmetics will block the pores
and trap the oils deep inside the skin, causing pimples. When washing your face be gentle. Do not wash with a dry soap or a soap high with pH. They will cause the skin to be very irritated. Dry the face with a soft towel by just gently patting. Try to wash your face at least twice a day, but do not over do it.
