Decisions- Where are our principles?
The decisions that we make everyday effect us in a life- changing way. So many times we don't think about the consequences of our actions, and we end up regretting our decisions after we have suffered from those consequences. In Dr. Laura Schlessinger's book, "How could you do that," she said time after time that we need to think before and act later. There are three cases that come to mind from her book that show us how we should act in the business world today.
The first case that comes to mind is the one titled "But Being good doesn't make me happy." She talks about a woman named Carey, who has been married for thirteen years and has three children. She started to have an affair with a guy and she starts to feel guilty. She tries to justify her actions by saying that she deserves happiness. Dr. Laura makes her ask herself questions concerning the consequences associated with her actions. Her questions are centered on the family that she is apart of and if these consequences will truly bring happiness.
This is a great example of what many households are going through today. I will be in the business world starting in May and luckily I will not have a family to worry about when I enter. But it will still be a problem when I do have a family. So many families are going through problems because of affairs at the workplace. Most of these affairs are justified by the definition of happiness. The people caught up in this are usually so caught up in themselves that they forget about the stress and pain the family members will go through. I believe that this temptation can be wiped away if a married couple can both give all that they can to the relationship. If their desired and needed are fulfilled then they should have no reason to cheat. Also if they can quit being so selfish and look at the overall picture, a lot of these wants will be non-existent.
The next case study that came to mind is titled "To be or not to be...a daddy." This case dealt with a man that had a fear about fatherhood. A majority of this fear came from the fear of the unknown. So many times we are faced with...
