This is a health report on the dreaded Ebola Virus. The Ebolavirus is a consuming and lethal disease that has been sightednumerously in Africa. It is an epidemic that shows no mercy to thehuman body. There is no known cure or vaccine to this day. Noincidents have been reported in the United States. What is the Ebola Virus? The virus is named after the Ebolariver where the most deadly outbreak took place. Ebola is named as afilovirus and has 4 subtypes: Zaire, Sudan, Reston, and Tai. EbolaZaire is the most deadliest of all and has a kill ratio of 90%,Sudan:60%, Tai:70%-80%, and Ebola Reston luckily is notthreatening to humans, it only kills monkeys. Ebola is a class 4Pathogen along with AIDS, Lassa, and several other Hemmoragic(bleeding) fevers which have no vaccine or cure. It is also unknown where Ebola comes from, but some scientistssay that it comes from deep within forests and is accidentallyspreaded to humans. Scientists also think that it originates from abug. But, it starts by one person recieving it who spreads it to anotheran so on which then starts an epidemic. It is a mystery how Ebolacomes from nowhere claiming hundreds of lives, and then justdissappears just as it mysteriously came. Another virus called theMarburg virus which was first discovered in Marburg, Germany, wastraced back to green monkeys from Uganda where the monkeys werebeing used for research. We could get the virus from monkeys. Scientists have no clue why Ebola Reston is not lethal tohumans. But, they have one theory, since Ebola Reston is closelyrelated to Ebola Zaire, Ebola Reston could be a mutated form of EbolaZaire. Even though Ebola Reston is airborne (Can travel through theair like the cold virus)Ebola Zaire is not. If Ebola Zaire was, the vastpopulation of Earth would be dead, if not dieing. If Ebola Zairemutated into a human-friendly virus, that means there is no reasonthat it can t mutate into a human-friendly, airborne virus. Ebola kills a person by liquefying all organs, sloughing off theguts, and bleeding through every opening in the human body (eyes,ears, pores, etc.). It is not a pretty sight to see someone dieing fromthe Ebola virus, you will know if you see the movie Outbreak. Butshould we hide in a closet? No, actually it is quite hard to contract thevirus. The CDC (Center for disease control and prevention) says thatyou can only contract the virus through close personal contact suchas a kiss. The Ebola Virus lacks in many terms as far as research goes.Part of the difficulty is that the research must be made in very strictlycontrolled settings, requiring safeguards and equipment that arebeyond the reach of many laboratories. Also, because of the virus very lethal tendencies, it is extremely difficult to obtain a specimen forresearch. Research has still led to a better understanding of the pattern ofsymptoms which the virus causesin humans. Most patients come inover illness, dehydrated, and disoriented. Further medicalinvestigation shows other symptoms showing an infection with thevirus. Ebola is best known for the extroadinary amount of bleeding,both internal and external that it causes on its victims.
